A few of our Boston adventures, part 1

First and foremost, in honor of Auntie Kels, the recent college graduate, Henry sports his orange crocs.

Yes, they are on OVER his footed PJs, and yes, they still have the tags on them.Henry hangs out with Hillary at her parents' house in Newton. One of our first Boston-area forays!

Grammy and Gramps visit the Boston Andersons. Here we are at our new church's Brazilian BBQ. So yummy (and a little bit windy). This picture shows Henry's need of a haircut!

Henry's first haircut!

On Friday, mom decided it was time to "even out" Henry's baby fuzz. Here are the results!

Sitting in the chair, examining the mouse, er frog, that went with the computer that you play with while getting a haircut. Just like back in my day when I got my first haircut! You can see how shaggy his hair was!

Playing with a doll while she evens it out. No tears were shed! Hooray!

The "after" picture. He's such a little man!

Home in Boston

We've had a lot of photo requests, so here they are - pictures of our new home and life in B-town!

On moving day, Henry patiently awaits his belongings. He did enjoy the stroller racetrack in the house, though. We had an unexpected moving-day visitor! Uncle James had a 24 hour layover in Manchester, NH for the day, so he drove down and hung out with us. He was a huge help and it was great to see him. You just can't plan this type of thing!
Henry and daddy take a break with Uncle James to go explore the park nearby and try out the new hiking backpack. I think it's going to get A LOT of use this summer!
Our new little house, from the outside!

Just inside the front door - our living room.

The den - adjacent to the living room. It's our catch all space - piano room, office, guest room, playroom. Do you see the incredibly comfortable futon-like sofa against the far wall? That could be your bed, should you come visit! (And please do! It's very comfortable, I promise.)

The dining room. As you can see from this picture, we're not quite unpacked. Close, but it's only been a week.

The kitchen. I'm loving the space to spread out!The famed pink bathroom. I attempted to tone it down by using a blue (with pink flowers) shower curtain. Although there is less pink in the room this way, I would not say I made it more masculine. Sorry, Luke. There IS a freestanding toilet in our basement if he ever needs to feel more manly in a "bathroom".

Henry's nursery! I feel like it's his first real nursery. I'm not quite sure why - he did have his own room before.

Our bedroom. Boring. But still a nice space! The backyard... There is a grill and patio. Perfect, should you come in the summer, to enjoy a barbecue!Luke, on his first day of work! (Someone has to pay for our extravagant lifestyle.) ;-)Henry and mommy on Mother's Day. What an amazing year it has been!
Thanks for looking! More from our Boston adventures, soon! We miss you!!!

1400 miles, 1 baby, 2 cats - Our Journey

Here are pictures from the hard part - getting there! A huge thank you to everyone who helped us on our journey. From babysitting, to a family-run bed and breakfast, to help packing boxes, we couldn't have done it without you, and we are very grateful!

Our car, packed for the journey and ready to burst! We actually could see out the back, believe it or not!

The kitties were traveling in style. Or, more accurately, were traveling under the influence of drugs.

We made a quick stop at Niagara Falls and were the only ones there!
Henry and Daddy check out the American Falls.
Henry and mommy at Horseshoe Falls. It looks like they are short, but that's the water on the close side of the horseshoe, just before it runs over the edge!

Of course, Luke needed to get a quick round of discin' in before we hit the road for our final destination - Boston! Here he was playing Beaver Falls park in New York - another state checked off his list!

Arriving in MA.

And, our belongings arrive! Mayflower was awesome, and our driver, Terry, was amazing. Believe it or not, EVERYTHING arrived in one piece! Incredible. We loved having a moving company and highly recommend it to anyone!

We're here!

I have been so looking forward to the day when I had internet again. I wanted to immediately post pictures of our journey, of our moving process, and of our new home! But I set my sights too high, I fear.

So for now, I'll give just a quick update. We finally have internet, so I'm back online (it's amazing how lonely it feels to be disconnected to cyberspace!) Our trip went well - Henry did great, and even the cats survived their torment. Our moving company was awesome and made things a breeze. We're still settling in but we LOVE, LOVE, LOVE our new house. It's the perfect size for our family, and it feels so good to have enough room for all of our things. We've gotten a chance to explore the beautiful park by our house, and have attempted to purchase necessities at our local businesses... I'll just say that the other night, it took me around 30 minutes to drive 3 miles. We're not in Northfield anymore, that's for sure!

I'll get downloading and there will be more soon, I promise!

Leaving, for real this time!

We've had lots of food and fun and family and friends over the last few days. We found out that our belongings will arrive on either Thursday or Friday (I always thought that home was where the heart was, but it's strange how much those things make home, home!). We were excited to take in one last beautiful Minnesota day, and the weather cooperated! So we took in a few more Minnesota sights and events than originally planned, and we'll head out in the morning.

Boston, here we come!

Lasts

It seems very odd to me to focus on all of these "lasts". Last playgroup in Northfield, last night in our apartment, last night at the Cow, last night at the computer before the internet connection goes away for a week!

The reason it feels so strange to me is that we have only JUST finished going through so many "firsts". With Henry's birthday only being a week ago, we just finished the cycle of all of the new things that he had never done before.

I guess the last route is a pretty negative way to look at things. I do try to put a positive spin on things like that. So perhaps this is the first time I'm blogging about our new life in Boston. Maybe I should be focusing on Henry's first cross-country move... We do have choices about how we perceive things, don't we?

At any rate, here I am, signing off from our Minnesota computer in our Minnesota apartment. My next post will most likely be from Boston, and will document our cross country journey with Henry and the two cats, 22 hours of...family fun? ...mind-numbing boredom? ...anxious excitement? ...hair-pulling insanity? Only time will tell!

Signing off, and inviting you along on this new journey,
Kelly
